Antecedents an possible efects of Paramount’s guidelines                 for making Star Trek fan films (by Tania Olarte Ávila).

"CBS and Paramount Pictures are big believers in reasonable fan fiction and fan curative, and in particular, want amateur fan filmmakers to showcase their passion for Star Trek. Therefore, CBS and paramount Pictures will no object to, or take legal action against, Star Trek fan productions that are non-professional and amateur and meet the following guidelines"

Star trek fan production is a big world full of series, movies, audios and big projects created only fofor Star Trek material  ( Axanar, Horizon, Exter...), it isn't a secret for at least anybody that the fan club of this universe is really serious and sometimes scary. But, when it overcomes the love for it and becomes creativity with the universe of Gene Roddenberry, What happens?. Well, in this case the fan filmmakers have all the backing for improve sells, products and public, always along with love between universe and fans on the movie productions.

For years, it was free, non professional (amateur) and also with a good view and support of the people in the world, how did happen this change? "Infringed Paramount's copyright" made productions get scared about work with this commercial universe, for it, some months ago Paramount shared in the oficial page some guidelines for avoiding objection. "Despite the fact  Star Trek Beyond director Justin Lin has urged Paramount Pictures to drop a lawsuit over a crowdfunded Star Trek fan film, and notwithstanding comments from executive producer J.J. Abrams that an announcement would be coming about an end to the litigation, the parties involved in the fight over Axanar  continue to lob court filings at each other." (hollywoodreport)

As we expected the welcome of this new rules isn't so easy for the fan filmmakers, and also create a lot of questions for the public about what means this article, and the different restrictions of the productions, but we will take a central position about the topic, we will check the antecedents an possible effects, with the good and bad things that it carries:
In one hand we have the legal part, and why they share this rules, well, the official podcast of Star Trek  (episode 5 )"Jordan welcomes John Van Citters of CBS, a lifelong Star Trek fan, to give some much needed context on the recently released Star Trek fan film guidelines issued by CBS and Paramount Pictures. Jordan asks John YOUR questions and tackles individual points of the guidelines, providing insight into the process and discussing the potential these guidelines have for the future of Trek fan films."  talk about the topic and make a special section dedicate only for it, with the accompaniment of a big fan who actually works with Paramount's productions ( A Big dream comes true) ,  who open the program with a phrase "anyone can cook , you can get great things from any corner and we are truly believers of Star trek fans" what truly happen was that Paramount share instruction for future movies and production to take care of legal problems, and have an official structure to create without problems with the good name of Star Trek.

-In the other hand, the questions and problems that Fans comment (and obviously nobody want and like that other people tell you what to do or how do) is principal, about limits, rules and restrictions,  is a drastic change, and it affects the creative and work production ( a thing where they mustn't go in). A huge fans with comments that more than 500 words express the hate of the new rules , how all are unreasonable rules, without arguments and also but small comments: “You're ridiculous and no fan of Star Trek to give this leech a platform to "Clarify" what doesn't need any clarification. It's all very clear.” About the reaction of fans and filmmaker with the opinions of how and who can make this kind of productions.

The good news, is the answer of a big question in the podcast, the productions before the rules won't be erased, neither will check creativity, casting , money or other things about the history and production, they search become it in a guide  and instructions (no restrictions) for the new productions, an agreement between both parts, for avoid problems, remove insecurities with the knowledge about how long they can go, with the support for official Star Trek. It will be a big change where the filmmakers have to adapt themselves, but also although the rules is based in the copyright, it restrict the creative histories and productions, time, money... but we all hope that they take it well, make good terms by Fans and Official universe and have new Trekkies in the community.
